Reuters. Turkey hopes that delegations from Ukraine and Russia will hold results-oriented talks on memoranda they exchanged, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Wednesday (July 23) at the start of a third round of talks between warring sides.
Speaking at the opening of the third round of Ukraine-Russia talks in Istanbul's Ciragan Palace, Fidan said that Turkey's aim was "to end this bloody war as soon as possible."
"The ultimate goal here is, of course, a ceasefire that will pave the way for peace," Fidan said.
Russian and Ukrainian negotiators met in Istanbul on Wednesday for their first peace talks in more than seven weeks, with Moscow under pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump to strike a deal or face tough new sanctions.
