Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that there is no issue of holding snap presidential and parliamentary elections on the government's agenda. The vote will take place in 2028, according to the Constitution. In this way, he responded to calls by the leader of the opposition Republican People's Party, Özgür Özel, for snap elections.
"I remind Özel again. Since the constitution and electoral law have not changed, the presidential and parliamentary elections will be held in 2028, and the municipal elections in 2029. Mr. Özel, you can have your own vision and point your finger at any Sunday on the calendar and say that the elections should be held at that time, but the authorities and the people do not have such an agenda," Erdogan said during a speech in Parliament.
