The Turkish President commented on the tension in Moscow-Baku relations amid the arrests of citizens of both countries in Azerbaijan and Russia.
Recep Erdogan said that he had discussed the issue with Ilham Aliyev.
"We are closely following the situation and call on the parties to exercise restraint. We believe that the issue will be resolved in a reasonable manner. We do not want irreparable damage to relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, including for the sake of stability in the region," he noted.
Erdogan assured that Ilham Aliyev is not in favor of escalation in this issue.
