On July 1, the Vice President of the RA National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan participated in the reception on the occasion of Canada Day organized by the Embassy of Canada and as an honorary guest gave an opening speech.
“Dear Ambassador Turner,
Excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen,
On behalf of the Armenian authorities, the people of Armenia, and my own behalf, I have the honor to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Government and the people of Canada on the occasion of the Canada Day.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two nations, Armenia and Canada have successfully built a robust and successful partnership based on mutual respect, democratic values, and shared aspirations. Our countries enjoy a warm and constructive relationship that continues to deepen in many spheres.
The high-level political dialogue between Armenia and Canada, including our inter-parliamentary cooperation, serves as an important pillar of our bilateral ties. In this regard, I would like to highlight the important role of the Embassy of Armenia in Canada and the Embassy of Canada in Yerevan in advancing our common agenda and fostering institutional engagement.
As a successful example of the parliamentary cooperation I would like to commend the “Support to the Parliament of Armenia” project implemented by the Parliamentary Centre (Canada) and aimed at enhancing the inclusive and responsible internal governance at the National Assembly of Armenia.
Considering that we are so close to the establishment of the long-awaited and durable peace in the South Caucasus, we express our sincere appreciation for Canada’s principled support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democratic development of the Republic of Armenia. Such steadfast support is both encouraging and essential in today’s geopolitical landscape.
Armenia attaches great importance to enhancing economic cooperation with Canada. We stand ready to join efforts to ensure further growth in areas such as trade, investment, high technologies, innovation, environmental protection, and other domains of mutual interest.
We are confident that the expansion and enrichment of our collaboration best serves to the benefit of our peoples.
I would also wish to highlight the meaningful contribution of the Armenian community in Canada. Their active role in promoting cultural dialogue and shared values continues to strengthen our mutual understanding and friendship,” the NA Vice President noted and concluded his speech, again congratulating the people of Canada on this festive occasion and wished them peace, success and prosperity.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to the Republic of Armenia Andrew Turner also welcomed the attendees.
