Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico vetoed the 18th package of anti-Russian sanctions at the EU summit, media outlets report.
Hungary also opposes the package.
According to Hungarian media, Fico held talks on the issue with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen before the summit, but no results were achieved, and the sanctions issue was removed from the agenda.
Earlier, Budapest and Bratislava vetoed the European Commission's plan to abandon Russian energy sources. The Hungarian Foreign Minister warned that if a decision is ultimately made to abandon Russian energy sources, Hungary may stop supplying electricity to Ukraine.
