Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday said China and India should properly handle sensitive issues and maintain peace and tranquility in the border regions,
CGTN reports.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting with Shri Ajit Doval, India's national security adviser and special representative for the India-China boundary question, in Beijing.
Noting that the bilateral relations have made some positive progress, Wang said it is essential that both sides further enhance communication, build mutual trust, and work toward resolving practical issues.
Only when the dragon and elephant dance together can there be a win-win outcome, he said.
Doval, for his part, said that India and China should view their bilateral relationship from a long-term and strategic perspective, enhance mutual understanding and inclusiveness, and expand common interests.
India is willing to strengthen collaboration with China in multilateral fields and fully supports China's role as the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in hosting a successful summit, he said.
