Israel's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva Daniel Meron said on Friday (June 20) he expected European foreign ministers to demand a complete rollback of Iran's nuclear program when they meet their Iranian counterpart later on Friday, Reuters reports.
"We expect the European foreign ministers to take a firm stance vis-a-vis Iran and demand that there is a complete rollback of the nuclear program, the dismantling of the ballistic missile arsenal and program, and putting an end to Iran's regional terrorist activities and active support for its terrorist proxies.
We are operating in the name of regional stability and global security, and we expect the international community to be clear and steadfast in support of removing the imminent existential threat against Israel," Meron stated.
Israel began attacking Iran last Friday (June 13), saying its longtime enemy was on the verge of developing nuclear weapons. Iran, which says its nuclear programme is only for peaceful purposes, retaliated with missile and drone strikes on Israel.
Israel is widely assumed to possess nuclear weapons. It neither confirms nor denies this.
