Armenia's Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan responded to the speech of Vladimir Solovyov, host of the “Evening with Solovyov” program broadcast on the Russian state TV channel, during which the latter made offensive statements about Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Simonyan, in particular, said:
"This pathetic little TV freak thinks he has the right to call the country’s leader vile names, incite the people of Armenia to political action against the legitimately elected government, play on emotions, wrap all this cheap nonsense in a pitiful act — and still expect that simply saying “this isn’t interference in internal affairs” will make it all acceptable?
This is direct interference in the internal affairs of the Republic of Armenia, a conscious spread of hatred and insults towards its leadership and people.
Such actions on the state TV channel cause serious damage to the relations between our countries and only cause deep disgust among the population of Armenia.
I hope that my Russian colleagues, with whom we have discussed such incidents more than once, will respond, and that Armenian society will hear a clear apology on the same channel, in the same luxurious 'artistic' style."
