Armenia's Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan said Monday he believed Cyprus would make its contribution in the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process.
He made the remarks after his meeting with President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Annita Demetriou in Yerevan.
Demetriou is on an official visit to Armenia.
Simonyan, speaking at a joint press conference, said he presented to Demetriou the situation pertaining to the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, among other issues.
“I am sure that Cyprus will have its contribution on the path of establishing peace, as it did in the past, as it has always supported that issue,” Simonyan said.
Simonyan said Armenia has been likewise always supporting Cyprus in the Cyprus issue. He said the matter was also discussed during their meeting.
Demetriou was also briefed about the unlawfully held Armenian POWs in Azerbaijan, and the missing persons.
“We have full understanding, full match of interests from both sides, for which I am grateful to my esteemed colleague,” Simonyan said.
