US President Donald Trump may fly to Istanbul to participate in a possible meeting between Ukraine and Russia. It is scheduled for May 15, the American leader said during an interaction with journalists, BBC reports.
“I think there can be a good result from the meeting on Thursday in Turkey between Russia and Ukraine, and I believe that both leaders will be there (we are talking about Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky - ed.). I was thinking about flying there,” he said.
The US president added that “he still doesn't know” where he will be on Thursday, and he has many meetings scheduled. But “anything can happen.”
Trump assured that the US is making every effort to see if the bloodbath between Ukraine and Russia can be ended.
Trump has visits scheduled to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE from May 13 to 16.
