Two years ago in Nagorno-Karabakh, we witnessed crimes committed against humanity. Marina Mesure made this statement during the European Parliament discussion titled “Unlawful detention and sham trials of Armenian hostages, including high-ranking political representatives from Nagorno-Karabakh, by Azerbaijan.”
The French MEP emphasized that in 2023, Europe failed to stop Azerbaijan, and today, it must act to secure the release of the Armenians held captive by Baku.
"They are detained and tortured, yet their only crime is defending their people, their land, and their rights. If we do nothing, we send a message to Aliyev that he can continue his actions against Armenia with impunity. Silence is no longer an option. We must send a clear signal—Armenia is not alone. We stand with Armenia to ensure respect for its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and its right to live in peace and security, without fear of further Azerbaijani aggression," Mesure stated.
