As of March 16, Armenia is officially entitled to start exporting to the European Union (EU) member states high-quality aquaculture finfish and finfish products (caviar and roes). This will be in line with the newly adopted Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/354 - and provided that the respective establishments are listed in the TRACES system, informed the Delegation of the EU to Armenia.
“Even though Armenia is a landlocked country, it boasts a well-developed fish farming sector, closely monitored by the Food Safety Inspection body. Thanks to diligent efforts of the latter, along with the efforts from colleagues at DG SANTE of the European Commission, the technical procedure leading to this authorisation, which lasted a few years, has come to a successful fruition.
“This milestone marks a significant step in Armenia's journey towards economic diversification, opening up new opportunities for growth and collaboration on a global scale,” added the Delegation of the EU to Armenia.
