Reuters. Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty were indisputable in the eyes of Ankara in the coming period, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday (February 18).
Erdogan also said Turkey would be an appropriate venue for any possible peace talks involving Russia and the United States.
Speaking at a press conference in Ankara after talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, Erdogan also said that U.S. President Donald Trump's recent diplomatic initiative to seek an end to the Ukraine-Russia war was aligned with Turkey's policy since the start of the conflict three years ago.
Turkey will work to implement a regulation that aims to ensure commercial navigational safety in the Black Sea, he added, saying that such regulation would be a confidence-building measure leading up to ceasefire negotiations.
The meeting between Erdogan and Zelenskiy coincided with talks between the United States and Russia in Saudi Arabia aimed at ending the three-year war in Ukraine and restoring broader Russia-U.S. ties.
