Ukraine's President, speaking at the Munich Security Conference, said that the West must strengthen support for Kyiv, otherwise it will face the threat of a direct military conflict.
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, today neither the United States nor Europe are ready to discuss Ukraine's membership in NATO, fearing escalation with Russia. In this regard, Zelensky stressed the need to increase the Ukrainian army to 1.5 million people.
He reported that Russia is forming 15 divisions to strengthen its positions in the Belarusian direction. According to Zelensky, these forces can be used against both Ukraine and NATO countries, including Poland and the Baltic states.
Zelensky drew special attention to the security of strategic facilities, touched upon the attack on the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, describing it as a "terrorist act."
According to the Ukrainian leader, Europe realizes that it may become Russia's next target and must act decisively. He stressed that the Ukrainian military is now giving the world a chance to negotiate, but without active action, the West may be drawn into war.
"We must very quickly discuss with the United States specific steps to put pressure on Putin. Otherwise, the West will be forced to change its suits into military uniforms," Zelensky said.
