"I can confidently state that this initiative to discuss and seek solutions to one of the most complex and pressing issues of international politics and history can be deemed a well-established and successful format. Tragically, crimes against humanity, genocides, and the risk of their recurrence remain as urgent as ever", President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan said during the 5th Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide.
"Preventing genocides, protecting civilian populations, respecting international law, and ensuring accountability are primary responsibility of states.
Today, the principled stance of our state is to build and maintain peace based on rights-centered solutions and a just international system—one that can identify human rights violations, recognize the early signs of atrocities, and respond proportionally. We are convinced that early prevention must become one of the cornerstones of an effective international security system.
We are confident that during this two-day forum, our guests and participants from Armenia will be able to propose effective solutions for strengthening human rights mechanisms, enhancing the work of multilateral institutions, emphasizing the critical role of international judicial bodies, implementing their rulings, and amplifying the voices of civil society and the academic community," the president concluded.
