An extended meeting between the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan took place in Ankara.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed the entire range of bilateral relations, as well as the steps aimed at further deepening of cooperation. In addition, current regional issues were in the center of attention of the presidents.
After the negotiations, the two presidents made statements.
During the joint press conference with Ilham Aliyev, the President of Turkey referred to Azerbaijan-Armenia relations.
"Undoubtedly, the peace treaty, which will be signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia, will become a source of peace and new hope in the world and in our region. A window of historical opportunity has opened in the South Caucasus. It is extremely important that it does not close. Armenia should strategically assess this process," Erdogan said, calling on third parties to take positive steps instead of poisoning the process.
Erdogan expressed hope that the recent events on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border will not be repeated.
The President of Turkey also called the suspension of the work of the Azerbaijani delegation in the PACE unfair, expressed solidarity with Baku and promised to support the maintenance of its powers.
