Riots in Makhachkala were instigated via social networks, including from Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday, TASS reports.
"Yesterday’s developments in Makhachkala were instigated in particular via social networks, not least from Ukraine’s territory, by agents of Western special services," he said at a meeting on the situation in Dagestan.
"How one can help Palestine by attacking the Tats (Caucasian Persians) and their families? By the way, the Tats are a titular ethnic group in Dagestan," he noted.
"One can help Palestine only by fighting against those who are behind this tragedy. We, Russia, are fighting against them during our special military operation. Against them and for ourselves and for those who want real freedom," he stressed.
Mass riots took place at Makhachkala airport on October 29 after the arrival of a regular flight from Tel Aviv amid the ongoing escalation in the Middle East. A crowd of several hundred people broke into the airport’s building and landing area. Later, they were pushed back by the police. According to the latest data, more than 20 people, including several police officers, were injured and 83 rioters were detained. The Dagestani authorities and clergy condemned the incident as an incendiary act.
The United States and its satellites are benefiting from conflicts in the Middle East and other parts of the world, Putin said.
"We must not, have no right and cannot afford to be guided by emotions. We must clearly see who is really behind the tragedy of people in the Middle East and in other world regions, who orchestrates the deadly chaos, who benefits from it. I think that it is obvious for all today - the order-givers are acting openly and flagrantly. The United States ruling elites and their satellites are the major beneficiaries of the global instability. They are deriving bloody profits from it," he said at a meeting on the situation in Dagestan.
"The US as a global superpower is becoming weaker, losing its positions, and everyone sees it, understands it, even by looking at trends in the global economy. The 'Pax Americana,' the 'American world' - with a single hegemon - is crumbling, slowly but steadily becoming a thing of the past," he said, adding that this is why the United States is seeking to destabilize Russia and other rivals by means of sowing discord.
