Azerbaijan's criminal acts against civilian population of Artsakh gained new momentum: Artsakh Prosecutor's Office

In recent days, along the Artsakh-Azerbaijan contact line, Azerbaijan has been actively making every effort to terrorize the civilian population and disrupt the "normal" course of people's lives. This was stated in the message of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) prosecutor's office.

“Targeted shots are being fired from different types of firearms at people doing agricultural work on the agricultural lands adjacent to the contact line, damaging the agricultural equipment, forcing them to stop the work related to land cultivation or harvesting.

There were cases when armed Azerbaijani military approached citizens of Artsakh working in the garden and threatening to use weapons demanded to stop the work and leave.

Today, the Azerbaijani side again opened fire from different types of firearms, this time in the administrative area of Hatsi village of Martunu region, at the people doing agricultural work, damaged the tractor, and in the Taghavardi section, loud music of a religious and ritual nature was played.

All the listed criminal cases are recorded and documented by the law enforcement institutions of the Republic of Artsakh in accordance with the procedure established by the criminal procedure legislation.

The prosecutor's office of the Republic of Artsakh immediately reports the cases mentioned to the prosecutor of the peacekeeping mission in Artsakh. In each case, the Azerbaijani side is urged to adhere to the agreement reached between the chief prosecutors of the Russian Federation, Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan and conduct a proper investigation in order to bring to justice the persons who committed such an act, but these appeals always remain unanswered.

In order to deny that the criminal harassments against the citizens of the Republic of Artsakh are organized by the Azerbaijani authorities, Azerbaijan should at least bring criminal responsibility to the persons who committed such acts, but not only is no step taken in this direction, but Armenian hatred and its manifestations are encouraged by open and deliberate inaction,” the statement reads.
