The Collective Security Treaty Organization issued a statement regarding the results of the extraordinary session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, which was chaired by Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
The statement notes that during the session CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas presented information about the work of the mission of the Organization sent to the Republic of Armenia by the September 15 decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council, related to the escalation of the situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, where on the night of September 13, 2022, clashes with the use of heavy weapons and drones took place, resulting in many casualties.
"The members of the Collective Security Council, reaffirming the Organization's commitment to strengthening peace, international and regional security and stability, collectively protecting the independence and territorial integrity and sovereignty of the CSTO member states, discussed the existing situation in the region and joint measures to provide assistance to the Republic of Armenia.
There was a clear belief that the existing contradictions and disputed issues should be settled by political-diplomatic means, including within the framework of the agreements outlined in the trilateral statements adopted by the Prime Minister of Armenia, the President of Russia and the President of Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021”, reads the statement.
Based on the results of the session, the members of the CSTO Collective Security Council presented a number of recommendations regarding the revision of the relevant draft decisions.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus informed that another meeting in the same format will be held in November.
