Housing construction projects are continuing in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). Their main beneficiaries are families displaced by the 2020 war.
Aram Sargsyan (Minister of Urban Planning of Artsakh) - More than 1500 new residential houses are being built in the city of Stepanakert, 12 districts and more than 1700 houses in the regions.
A new district is being built for the occupied Sghnak, Jraghatsner, Moshkhmhat and Madatashen communities near Astghashen village of Askerani region. 82-year-old Dora Sargsyan is cleaning the new apartment so that they can move here by the new year.
Dora Sargsyan (beneficiary of the program) - When we came to this house and said, "This is yours, we are giving it to you," I hardly slept after that day. Every night and day, I think about this house, we will come, cultivate a piece of land to raise these children.
The project is implemented with the funding of the Artsakh Government. On January 1, 2023, 100 houses will be ready in the district. 95 families know their new address by lottery.
Yeghishe Ghahramanyan (Head of Sghnak community) - Since more houses are being built in the district, we organized the lottery so that our villagers know the location of their private houses, even if there is a person whose house is not completely built, but he knows the location of his house. He can come later, express his desire to participate in the construction, work on his private house.
The Avanesyans from Jraghatsner will live in this duplex. A 5-room apartment was allocated to a family of 7 people. In their native village they were engaged in animal husbandry, here they will probably breed birds.
Shabo Avanesyan (beneficiary of the program) - A villager must either keep a cow or a chicken. If we can't keep cows, because we don't have land, we won't be able to provide grass, at least we have to keep chickens. We need to build a coop to keep chickens. At the moment, living in Astghashen, I have 50 chickens, I'm upset because I don't know where to keep my chickens.
At the end of 2023, 276 families will enter housing in Ajapnyak district of Stepanakert. The construction of the district started in 2021. In the planned 14 four-story building, a design change was made and one floor was added.
Karlos Grigoryan (chief engineer of the company) - If 224 apartments were planned in the project, then under the conditions of tax increase, 56 apartments are added and become 276 apartments.
