The situation in Parukh remains the same. There are no major clashes at this time, Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Defense Arman Sargsyan said in a talk with journalists in the Parliament.
At the same time, he noted that the wave of escalation may increase at any moment, as peace is fragile.
“Due to the current events in the world, it is not ruled out that any state may try to destabilize the situation based on its interests,” said Arman Sargsyan.
Touching upon the question whether the actions of peacekeepers in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) are being studied or not, he answered that the relevant authorities should speak about such sensitive topics.
“I can talk about the current situation. The situation on the Artsakh-Azerbaijani border remains tense,” Sargsyan said.
As for the journalists' question when the head of the General Staff will be appointed, the Deputy Minister of Defense said that the acting head of the General Staff is Kamo Kochunts, who has all the powers and levers defined by law.
“Of course, there will be an appointment. If I knew, I would say the day after tomorrow. In general, you can consider that we have a Chief of the General Staff who performs all the powers,” he said.
