The United States and the West demand from the Serbian Government to recognize Kosovo’s independence, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
He stressed that the Western powers are seeking ‘mutual recognition’ from Belgrade, meaning that Belgrade should recognize Kosovo’s independence and Pristina should recognize Serbia’s. Moreover, it is required directly, not in context, TASS reports.
On April 23, Vucic linked the continuation of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina with the fulfillment of Pristina’s commitments under the Brussels agreements. However, according to Vucic, the Kosovo Government is not fulfilling its obligation.
Kosovo unilaterally declared independence in February 2008 and in recent years; it has been actively trying to join international organizations, including UNESCO and Interpol.
More than 60 countries, including Russia, India, Iran and China, as well as five members of the European Union, oppose recognizing Kosovo’s independence.
