The jury of the 17-th Aram Khachaturian International Competition is made up of famous musicians. This year the competition will launched on the birthday of the great Armenian composer - June 6 - by the profession of conducting.
The jury consists of Mikhail Yurovsky, Chief Conductor of the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra, well-known conductor, and cellist Dmitry Yablonsky, Peter Stark, Professor of Conducting at the Royal College of Music in London and Rehearsal Director of the European Union Youth Orchestra, conductor, composer, conductor teacher Jorma Panula, Harold Clarkson, Deputy Director of IMG Artists Corporation, IMG Global Tour Director, violinist Pavel Kogan, People’s Artist of Russia, world-renowned conductor. The jury of the Khachatryan contest will be headed by the national hero of Armenia Hovhannes Chekidjyan.
At the moment, the acceptance of applications for those wishing to participate in the competition is underway. A large number of young conductors from different countries of the world have already applied. Applicants who have passed the preliminary stage will have the opportunity to participate in the competition stages, during which, among other works, the works of Aram Khachaturian, performed by the conductors of the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia, will be presented. In particular, the obligatory program of the competition includes Aram Khachaturian’s Symphony No. 2 as well as Spartak’s and Phrygian Adagio from Khachatryan’s ‘Spartak’ ballet.
The Khachatryan International Competition is well known in the world music world. It is a member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions, the only Armenian competition that has received such an honor, and is held according to the standards of this world organization. The competition is held with the support of the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. The organizer of this largest musical event is the ‘Aram Khachaturian-Competition’ cultural foundation.
