Today journalists asked the Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan about the talks on Azerbaijan’s participation in the forthcoming EEU session, in response to which the Deputy Prime Minister said that they would present their position in the near future.
To the question whether it is possible to veto, Mher Grigoryan gave a positive answer.
“Of course it is possible; however, it is a process within the framework of which we will inform about our position.”
To the question of ‘Lurer’ (News) correspondent whether the POWs issue and transport unblocking were raised by official Yerevan as a precondition for agreeing to Azerbaijan’s participation, the Deputy Prime Minister answered that all the components are being discussed, clarifying that it is not a veto, but a matter of agreeing or not. The issue of reconciliation has a formal process, which will be completed in the coming days.
“This process presupposes agreeing on the issue of another country participating in the session, which does not presuppose any substantive process. Simply the day will come, and we will say yes or no. As for setting or not setting preconditions, in order to set preconditions, you have to say whom to set! I think all the issue, including the POWs issue is being discussed with Moscow in a constructive format. I hope there will be solutions,” Grigoryan said.
To the clarifying question of ‘Lurer’ correspondent, does the Armenian Government consider this another opportunity to raise the POWs issue, Grigoryan answered that it is “our most important issue, any event in our life is an opportunity to raise this issue, to discuss it.”
