The priority of the Armenian delegation was was the issues related to the Artsakh war - first of all, the issue of the prisoners of war. The head of the RA NA delegation to PACE Ruben Rubinyan stated about this, referring to the PACE session held last week.
"The Armenian delegation proposed to make the issue of Armenian prisoners of war a current topic of discussion, which was rejected in the bureau. It was clear to our delegation from the beginning that other topics, in particular the topic of Navalny, were a high priority for the European delegates. It was obvious that it is very unlikely that our proposed topic will be included in the current discussion. But we made that offer as another way to raise the issue. As a result, the issue was discussed both in the bureau and in political groups. As a result, the leaders of the two political groups addressed a question to the Secretary General of the Council of Europe regarding the Armenian prisoners of war, and later also made Twitter statements, insisting that the Armenian prisoners of war should be returned immediately.
As the head of the delegation, I had meetings with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, the Commissioner for Human Rights, the President of the PACE, and again the issue of prisoners of war was in the focus of discussions. I must say that the Armenian delegation aimed to make the issue of prisoners of war a topic of discussions in the PACE at all possible levels, committees, political groups, bureaus, plenary sessions, and I think we have succeeded", Rubinyan said.
