The British Science Association has announced that Lord Ara Darzi, Professor of Denham, will take over the presidency of the Association in September 2020, according to The British Science Association.
Professor Darzi (of Armenian origin) is the Director of the Institute for Global Health Innovation at Imperial College London. He also chairs the Paul Hamlin Department of Surgery at Imperial College London, the Institute for Cancer Research, and the Executive Chair of the World Summit on Health Innovation in Qatar. Lord Darzi is a consultant surgeon at the Imperial College Hospital NHS Trust and the Royal Marsden NHS Trust.
Professor Darzi is also known for his innovations in robotic surgery. He previously served as Parliamentary Deputy Secretary of State for Health and is a leading figure in world health policy.
