A statement issued by the Azerbaijani Defence office said that the ground forces of the two countries will conduct joint operations in Baku and Nakhichevan on August 1-5. Separate exercises with the participation of the Turkish and Azerbaijani air forces will be held from July 29 to August 10 in the above-mentioned places and in three more regions.
The Azerbaijani side stated that the military exercises of the two countries are held within the framework of the Turkish-Azerbaijani defense agreement, and the annual program of bilateral military cooperation.
According to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, the military exercises have nothing to do with the heavy fighting on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on July 12.
