At early 20th century 27 families from Sasoun and Mush migrated to Eastern Armenia. They searched around and found a settlement close to their climate. The village took the name of the neighboring cyclopean fortress – Nerkin Bazmaberd. An evidence of this is a monument standing in the village center.
