The conference of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) has wrapped up in Peking. The major agenda issue of the leaders of 37 countries and representatives of the business field was the creation of a free trade zone between the member states of the organization.
The leaders discussed the prospects of the region’s development in conditions of global economic instability. However, the attention of the international media was focused on the contacts and bilateral agreements of the leaders of the superpowers.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping signed 17 agreements in the fields of oil and gas. According to those agreements, Russia will start the direct supply of gas to China in 2019.
