Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Ararat Mirzoyan has held a meeting with Shafqat Ali Khan, Pakistan’s first ambassador to Armenia since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 2025.
The ministry said in a readout that Minister Mirzoyan congratulated the ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in carrying out his important diplomatic mission.
The importance of developing the bilateral agenda between Armenia and Pakistan and the mutual political willingness existing in this regard were emphasized. Reference was made to the steps outlined for this purpose.
Views were exchanged on regional developments.
Earlier, Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan presented a copy of his credentials to Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Mnatsakan Safaryan.
During a subsequent meeting, Safaryan had emphasized that the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Pakistan in 2025, based on the principles of the UN Charter, was an important political decision by the governments of the two countries.
The sides discussed prospects for developing cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats, including through the formation of a bilateral legal framework.
The Deputy Minister presented Armenia’s balanced and balancing foreign policy priorities, its efforts to institutionalize the established peace, and its approaches to promoting regional connectivity.
Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan covers Armenia in a non-resident capacity and is stationed in Abu Dhabi.
