The U.S. Department of State has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ukraine for Hawk Missile System Sustainment and related equipment. The estimated total cost is $108.1 million, the State Department said in a statement.
“The Government of Ukraine has requested to buy erectable mast trailers; major modifications and maintenance support; spare parts, consumables and accessories, and repair and return support; U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support for FrankenSAM HAWK missile systems.
This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political and economic stability in Europe.
The proposed sale will improve Ukraine’s capability to meet current and future threats by further equipping it to conduct self-defense and regional security missions with a more robust integrated air defense capability. Ukraine will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces.
The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
The principal contractors for this effort will be Sierra Nevada Corporation, located in Englewood, Colorado.
There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale”, the statement reads.
