Permanent Representative of Armenia to the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Paruyr Hovhannisyan, delivered remarks at the ECOSOC Special Meeting on Safeguarding Energy and Supply Flows, focused on the global development implications of growing instability affecting international trade, energy and supply chains.
Ambassador Hovhannisyan reiterated Armenia’s vital interest in peace and stability in its neighbourhood, emphasizing the urgent need for de-escalation, diplomacy and full respect for international humanitarian law, while underlining the broader consequences of regional crises for global trade, connectivity and economic stability.
Highlighting Armenia’s perspective as a landlocked country, he stressed that disruptions to transit corridors, rising fuel and energy costs, and growing economic uncertainty disproportionately affect countries facing structural vulnerabilities. He called for strengthened international cooperation to enhance the resilience and predictability of supply chains, support diversified transport and energy routes, and ensure timely and affordable international financial support for countries.
