One day of war with Russia costs Ukraine approximately $450 million. The year 2026 could be decisive for achieving peace, but this is impossible without US involvement, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha states during the PISM Strategic Ark Conference, an international security conference.
"For Ukraine, one day of the war costs approximately $450 million. It's the most challenging for us because we pay the highest price. And now the ink of the history of Europe, and not only of Europe, is the blood of Ukrainian soldiers," Sybiha says.
According to him, this year could be decisive for Ukraine in terms of achieving peace, but US participation is needed.
"It’s unrealistic to achieve a true process of finalization of our peace efforts without the American side. It is not possible. We need their engagement, but also, in parallel, we need their influence and pressure on Russia," the Minister notes.
Last September, the Verkhovna Rada reported that Ukraine spent $172 million daily on the war with Russia.
And in 2024, a single day of war cost the Ukrainian budget $140 million.
At the same time, last May, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that for Russia, the cost of a single day of full-scale war against Ukraine amounts to nearly a billion dollars. Clearly, this figure has risen significantly since then.
