Among projects supported by the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) in Armenia is the preservation of the Dashtadem Fortress.
Dashtadem Fortress, dating from the 11th to 13th centuries, is a unique medieval complex located in Aragatsotn Province. In 2013, AFCP supported preservation efforts at the site, including preventive conservation of the fortress walls and foundations, as well as medieval structures within the complex. The project also covered the restoration of a medieval reservoir and traditionally preserved houses. This initiative helped protect and sustain one of Armenia’s remarkable historical sites.
