Within the framework of the programme for the development of democratic cooperation between the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden, a working group of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden, led by Kerstin Lundgren, the Third Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden, is in Armenia on April 7-8. Kenneth G Forslund, the First Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag of the Kingdom of Sweden, is also in the delegation.
The Head of the working group from the Armenian side is the RA Vice President Ruben Rubinyan.
The aim of the programme is to develop democratic institutions and spread democratic values. The core of the cooperation is the exchange of experience between parliamentarians, the activation of contacts, and the development of inter-parliamentary ties.
During the visit, the sides held discussions on the topics of “Relations between the Parliament/MPs and the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)”, “The Role of Parliament in Security Issues”, “The Role of the Judicial System and Courts”, and “Gender Equality in Parliament”.
