Iranian Red Crescent teams, emergency medical services and firefighters rescued a man trapped under rubble after an airstrike hit the outskirts of Tehran on Tuesday, the organisation said on Tuesday, 24 March.
In the footage, a survivor, covered in dust, can be seen trapped under the debris. The Iranian Red Crescent also carried out a similar rescue after a separate attack on Monday.
Israel and the United States have been at war with Iran for nearly a month. The Israeli military said it launched a wave of attacks against “infrastructure” in Tehran on Monday, hours after U.S. President Donald Trump extended the deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
President Trump postponed threatened strikes on Iranian power plants for five days, on the condition of the country unblocking the passage.
He added that Washington and Tehran had held talks on the “complete and total resolution of hostilities.” Iran denied talks had taken place and dismissed Trump’s claim as “fake news” being “used to manipulate financial and oil markets”.
Iran’s death toll in the war, which broke out with U.S.-Israeli strikes on February 28, has now surpassed 1,500, according to reports citing state broadcasters.
The IRCS said Sunday that following recent airstrikes on Iran, over 82,000 civilian targets have been damaged since the war began.
