The US side is signaling its readiness to continue negotiations to end Russia's war against Ukraine. This was announced in an evening address by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
The negotiating pause, he said, is coming to an end, and the Ukrainian team has already left for the United States. The meeting is expected to take place on Saturday (March 21), with Ukraine seeking to make the talks as meaningful and effective as possible.
"There was a negotiating pause, it's time to end it. And we are doing everything to make the negotiations really meaningful. The Ukrainian team – the political part of the negotiation team – is already on the way, and we expect a meeting in the United States of America this Saturday," Zelensky said .
Zelenskyy said that Defense Minister Rustem Umerov had held talks in key capitals in the Gulf region, which outlined possible new security arrangements. According to the head of state, this includes support for Ukraine with air defense systems.
At the same time, Ukraine is already providing assistance to its partners: Ukrainian expert groups are working in a number of countries to protect against Shahed drones, and they report on their progress on a daily basis.
"There is an understanding of what new security arrangements can be made with countries in the region. There are specific things they can do to support us, Ukraine, to support our defense – first of all, air defense. Ukrainian groups of experts to protect against the Shahed are already in the respective countries, and there are daily reports on their performance of tasks," Zelensky said.
