The US State Department has allowed non-essential US government employees and their families to leave a number of countries, including Pakistan, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Cyprus, due to security threats.
A statement posted on the websites of the US embassies in those countries said the decision applies to both embassy and consulate employees and US civil servants.
