A discussion was held Thursday in Brussels with the participation of Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informs.
Mirzoyan delivered an address, followed by a question-and-answer session with the members of the European Parliament (MEPs). In his address, the Armenian FM presented the significant changes that have occurred ever since the previous meeting in this format, especially the establishment of peace and developments between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The implementation of the agreements reached to unblock regional communications and the existing achievements were discussed in detail. The importance of ensuring an inclusive network of transport and economic connectivity was emphasized.
Reflecting on Armenia’s ambitious agenda of democratic reforms, Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the choice is between sovereign democracy or an authoritarian path leading to subservience, and Armenia has already made its choice.
Besides, Ararat Mirzoyan and the MEPs exchanged views on the prospects for deepening Armenia-EU relations, and emphasized the strong commitment to implementing the strategic partnership agenda.
In addition, Mirzoyan answered questions related to international and regional developments, hybrid threats and efforts to effectively counter them. The MEPs lauded the commitment and role of Armenia in promoting the peace agenda, as well as democratic reforms.
Ararat Mirzoyan, for his part, expressed gratitude for the consistent support provided by the European Parliament on key issues for Armenia.
