Today is January 28—the 34th anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia. The regular army of our state is now 34 years old.
Armenian Army Day was officially established by the law “On the Holidays and Memorial Days of the Republic of Armenia,” signed by the President of Armenia on January 6, 2001.
On November 20, 2002, an amendment was made to the Constitution of Armenia, according to which January 28 was designated as a non-working day.
Armenian Army Day is celebrated on January 28 because on this very date in 1992, the decision “On the Defense of the Republic of Armenia” was adopted.
