Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met in Strasbourg with Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset.
According to the foreign ministry’s readout, during the meeting, FM Mirzoyan and Secretary General Berset discussed agenda items for cooperation within the framework of the Council of Europe.
It was mutually emphasized that Armenia’s dynamic engagement in the Council of Europe, as well as its consistent accession to and implementation of CoE conventions, demonstrates the country’s commitment to democratic values and reforms.
“Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan noted that Armenia highly values cooperation with relevant international organizations, including the Council of Europe and the EU, in its path toward democratic development. In this context, attention was also given to the development and effective implementation of tools to counter hybrid threats, including disinformation,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
FM Mirzoyan and Secretary General Berset also exchanged views on developments in the South Caucasus. Minister Mirzoyan presented Armenia’s approaches to the continued institutionalization of the established peace.
The meeting further addressed upcoming events, including the participation of the Council of Europe Secretary General in the 8th Summit of the European Political Community, which will be held in Yerevan in May.
