During a working visit to the U.S. state of Utah, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the United States Narek Mkrtchyan was invited to attend the inaugural session of the Utah State Senate as an honorary guest. Republican Senator Michael McKell introduced Ambassador Mkrtchyan to the members of the Senate.
In his introductory remarks, Senator McKell referred to the Washington Declaration of August 8, 2025, highlighting it as a significant step toward strengthening regional peace.
Senator McKell placed particular emphasis on the role of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the peace process, also noting in this context the awarding of the 2026 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity to the Prime Minister.
Welcoming the Ambassador, President of the Senate Stuart Adams noted the significant progress made in the development of democracy in Armenia, emphasizing that the United States welcomes the strengthening of democracy in Armenia and will continue to support the promotion of democratic values worldwide.
