On December 19, a train carrying 22 wagons loaded with gasoline arrived in Armenia via the Azerbaijan–Georgia–Armenia railway. This became possible following the lifting of restrictions on freight transportation.
The agreement was reached during a meeting between Armenian and Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Ministers Mher Grigoryan and Shahin Mustafayev on November 28 in Gabala.
The fuel was purchased from Azerbaijan. The cargo belongs to two private companies. In total, it amounts to 1,218 tons of A95 premium motor gasoline.
Rail freight transportation from Azerbaijan to Armenia became possible as a result of the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8, as well as memorandums of understanding signed between the governments of the United States and Armenia.
Earlier, trains carrying Russian and Kazakh wheat had arrived in Armenia via the territory of Azerbaijan.
