Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Alfred Kocharyan received a delegation led by Anoushirvan Mohseni-Bandpey, Deputy Minister of Tourism at Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts.
Kocharyan highlighted the historical ties between the two peoples in various fields, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports said in a statement. He noted that Armenia and Iran have a broad agenda for implementing joint programs and expressed confidence that cooperation will continue in the preservation and development of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
The Deputy Minister underscored cooperation in monument restoration, drawing on Iran’s experience, and the preparation of joint Armenian-Iranian submissions to relevant UNESCO heritage lists.
Kocharyan also recalled the jubilee concert marking the 100th anniversary of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia held in Persepolis, saying the event was significant not only for promoting Armenia’s cultural heritage but also for deepening Armenia-Iran friendship.
Anoushirvan Mohseni-Bandpey expressed gratitude for the reception and noted that expanding and developing relations with Armenia, including in cultural tourism, is a priority for Iran. She highlighted the designation of Armenian churches in Iran as key sites for tourism development.
The parties discussed prospects for cooperation in handicrafts and tourism, along with other issues of mutual interest.
