On November 5, Arpine Sargsyan, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, and Senior Official for the Visa Liberalisation Dialogue on the Armenian side, met with Johannes Luchner, the Deputy Director-General for Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said in a press release.
The Deputy Director-General for Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission is in Armenia on November 5-6 to present the EU-Armenia Visa Liberalization Action Plan to the Armenian side.
According to Arpine Sargsyan, visa liberalization marked an important phase in the Armenia-EU partnership, aimed at strengthening trust and cooperation with the EU. The Minister emphasized that Armenia regarded the Visa Liberalization Action Plan as a strategic document for reforms in the areas of citizen mobility and public security.
During the meeting, the main directions of the Action Plan were discussed.
The EU representative highly appreciated the steps taken by Armenia towards visa liberalization and expressed his gratitude to Minister Sargsyan for the effective coordination of the process.
Arpine Sargsyan, the Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized that Armenia was committed to implementing reforms aimed at providing its citizens with dignified and facilitated travel opportunities to the European Union.
It should be noted that, at this stage, the Republic of Armenia is the only country with which the EU is conducting a visa liberalization dialogue.
