Armenian Ambassador to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan was hosted at the Institute of International Relations (IDIS), a University Research Institute affiliated with Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences, where he delivered a lecture on Armenia’s foreign policy titled Armenia: Foreign Policy and Regional Balancing.
The event was moderated by Professor Dimitrios Triantaphyllou of Panteion University.
Ino Afentouli, the Executive Director of the Institute of International Relations (IDIS), delivered opening remarks.
Ambassador Tigran Mkrtchyan provided a detailed presentation on the documents signed in Washington on August 8 and their significance for the future of Armenia and the region. The U.S.-brokered Armenian-Azerbaijani joint declaration was discussed point by point.
He also presented the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) project as part of the Crossroads of Peace. The ambassador spoke about TRIPP in the context of the memorandum of understanding signed between Armenia and the United States on capacity building under the Crossroads of Peace initiative.
The ambassador then discussed the prospects for normalizing Armenia-Türkiye relations and their significance for regional security.
He also addressed the unprecedented high-level Armenia-EU dialogue, the new agenda for Armenia-EU partnership, and the EU’s civil monitoring mission in Armenia.
Significant attention was given to deepening Armenia-Greece cooperation and its future prospects, including in the field of defense.
The discussion also touched upon hybrid threats directed against Armenia.
Diplomats, experts, students, and journalists attended the lecture. At the conclusion, the ambassador responded to questions from the audience.
