U.S. President Donald Trump's Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff is expected to step back from the Trump administration to refocus on his own business, the Middle East Eye media outlet reported citing sources.
"Both sources, who requested anonymity to reveal private discussions, said Witkoff planned to leave the administration to refocus on his business after a 'grueling' schedule of shuttle diplomacy in the Middle East," the media outlet said.
In his speech to the Knesset, Israel's parliament, on Monday, Trump praised Witkoff's negotiating prowess.
"They love him on this side, they love him on the other side. And he really is a great negotiator because he's a great guy," Trump said.
It was reported earlier that Trump on Monday asked Witkoff to now focus on settling the Ukraine conflict.
"If you don't mind, Steve, let's focus on Russia first," Trump said during his speech to the Knesset.
In addition to his efforts on the Middle East track, Witkoff has repeatedly interacted with Russian side on the Ukraine issue in recent months.
