The RA NA President Alen Simonyan participated in the reception dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Cyprus. The RA NA President delivered a congratulatory message.
“Dear Ambassador,
Your Excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen.
I cordially congratulate you on the occasion of the Independence Day, National Day of the Republic of Cyprus, wishing the people of the friendly Cyprus, peace and prosperity. This special day honours the sovereignty of your country and the unwavering spirit of the people of Cyprus in defending their freedom and democratic aspirations.
The relations with Cyprus are of particular importance to our peoples.
During the last decades Armenia and Cyprus succeeded to develop and deepen the inter-state relations. Now, a high-level political dialogue is underway between the two countries, with a multi-faceted bilateral agenda.
The development of the Armenian-Cypriot relations has experienced continuous upward momentum, which has been emphasized by high-level mutual visits, mutual support on international platforms, as well as active political and economic dialogue between the two countries.
Armenia and Cyprus have always supported each other on various issues. Cyprus has always stood by Armenia in difficult times and expressed its support for Armenia and the Armenian people.
Dear attendees,
Next year, when Cyprus, will assume the Presidency of the EU Council, Armenia will host the 8th European Political Community Summit at the beginning of May. We should closely cooperate to advance our common goals.
We should state with satisfaction that the opening of resident embassies in both countries is a significant step forward in our relations, which will contribute to new achievements in such sectors as the economy, high technologies, tourism, education, etc.
The cooperation between the two parliaments is also warm and active, as evidenced by the visit of the President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus, Annita Demetriou, and the delegation led by her to Armenia on May 19 of this year, as well as the active dialogue between the inter-parliamentary committees. Effective mutual support has also been developed in a multilateral format, within the framework of international parliamentary assemblies.
We highly appreciate the role of the Armenian community of Cyprus in the development of friendship between the two peoples.
Summarizing my speech, I would like to reaffirm our interest in close cooperation on current issues of both the bilateral and regional agendas.
I am confident that we will create a long history together.
Allow me to once again warmly congratulate the National Day of the Republic of Cyprus.
Long live the Republic of Cyprus! Long live the Republic of Armenia!”
The RA NA President concluded his speech.
