President Maia Sandu's pro-European Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) has won an absolute majority of seats in Moldova's new parliament, according to preliminary results of Sunday’s parliamentary election in the country.
And the pro-Russian opposition has lost again.
With about 99.47 percent of the votes counted, the PAS won 49.99 percent, giving it 51 of the 101 seats in parliament.
Another pro-European political force, the Alternative bloc, is expected to win 9 seats.
And the pro-Russian opposition Patriotic Electoral Bloc, according to the Central Electoral Commission of Moldova, received approximately 24.5 percent of the votes, which gives it 25 seats in parliament.
