Former NSS Director Mr. Abazyan, as head of the inter-agency commission on prisoners, hostages, and missing persons, always held meetings, and the last two meetings were aimed at raising the issues of prisoners and missing persons. Now that the head of this body is Andranik Simonyan, the work will continue, as it is mandated by a Government decision and the inter-agency commission remains operational. This was stated by Andranik Kocharyan, Chair of the Standing Committee on Defense and Security of the National Assembly of Armenia, during a press briefing in response to a question on whether the issue of Armenian prisoners was discussed during the NSS Director’s recent visit to Baku.
Kocharyan also recalled that within the framework of the National Assembly’s inter-agency commission working with families of missing and captured persons, two major solutions have been achieved.
“I believe this is an issue that will continue to accompany us until final solutions are found,” he said.
